Alpha Bases are planetary mining operations established by and composed of Structs. These installations are designed to mine and refine Alpha Ore deposits into stable Alpha Matter for transfer off-world.

Due to the inherent dangers of unstable Alpha Ore, it is illegal for sentient lifeforms to conduct Alpha mining and refining operations or occupy any world where such operations are underway. As such, Structs, not recognized as sentient beings by the Alpha Star Council, are an essential proxy.

Alpha Bases are established by Structs Command Ships, massive capital ships that act as both super-carrier and colony-scale manufacturing plant. Each Command Ship is powered by a dedicated Alpha Drive, allowing it to ferry fleets and resources across the depths of space. Upon arrival, on-board factories construct specialized Structs that are deployed to the planet’s surface via drop pod.

Each Alpha Base serves two key functions: first, to carefully extract Ore from the planet, and second, to refine it into stable Alpha Matter. As it is illegal to transport raw Ore in colonized systems, it is essential that any Ore be refined into stable Alpha Matter before it can be returned to developed space.
